Please read this original post about the inconsistencies with the templates shipped in Visual Studio and the fixes involved. These templates are a result of the fixes and modifications. Download and install these templates so you can get correct UX with ease when starting a new project or adding a new item into the project.
Download Windows Phone 8.1 XAML templates. (Last updated May 3, 2014)
- Replacement for the “Basic Page” item template with correct UX.
- Additional “Hub Page” and “Pivot Page” item templates.
- Replacement for the “Blank App,” “Hub App,” and “Pivot App” project templates with correct UX.
Download Windows Phone Silverlight templates. (Last updated April 27, 2014)
- Replacement for the “Windows Phone Portrait Page” and “Windows Phone Landscape Page” item templates with correct UX.
Once you’ve downloaded and unzipped the templates. There should be a folder called ItemTemplates. To install the item templates in this folder, just copy the content of the ItemTemplates folder to
<Your Documents Directory>\Visual Studio 2013\Templates\ItemTemplates\Visual C#
If there is a ProjectTemplate folder in the download, copy the content of that folder to
<Your Documents Directory>\Visual Studio 2013\Templates\ProjectTemplates\Visual C#
If you have Visual Studio open, you may need to restart it in order for the new templates should appear. The new templates will have the suffix “(Correct).” You’ll want to use these templates in place of the existing ones to have the correct UX.
